Saying goodbye to Facebook Groups!
A weekly newsletter about all things social media by Nuelink
Welcome to another exciting edition of our Weekly Social Media News Recap, where we unravel the latest stories shaping the digital landscape.
To start with, Elon Musk's vision for X as the go-to source for news updates takes center stage. With an emphasis on the "everything app," X has extended post lengths to provide more context and is set to introduce a new longer content format, allowing users to publish articles directly on the platform, accompanied by its own in-app feed.
Bluesky, funded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, transitions from an invite-only app to an open platform, offering an alternative to Elon Musk's X. As a decentralized micro-blogging platform, Bluesky stands out with its open-source code and the AT Protocol, allowing developers transparency and the ability to create custom algorithms or entirely new social platforms.
Meanwhile, Meta's surprise announcement of shutting down its Facebook Groups API has left businesses and social media marketers in a state of uncertainty, us included. The deprecation, part of Meta's Facebook Graph API v19.0 release, will remove the existing Facebook Groups API within 90 days, affecting developers and businesses relying on it for scheduling posts.
Instagram Threads, in a bid to compete more closely with X/Twitter, is rolling out a highly requested feature, the ability to save posts. Users can now bookmark their favorite posts for future reference, a move announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri in a recent Threads post.
And, the clash between TikTok and Universal Music Group (UMG) continues as UMG removes its entire music catalog from the platform. This move limits song options for content creators, leading TikTok users to explore non-copyrighted music and even incorporate ringtones and familiar jingles into their videos.
This hasn’t stopped TikTok from introducing a new live engagement element, "Sub Space," a subscriber-only, chat-like feature designed to incentivize sign-ups by providing paying subscribers with dedicated focus in live chats. This addition is part of TikTok's Live subscription tools, creating private chat rooms for paying members.
Speaking of TikTok, YouTube integrates vertical live stream broadcasts into the Shorts feed, displaying previews of ongoing live broadcasts in the app's feed for easy joining.
As we wrap up this week, stay tuned for more updates and insights. Until next time, happy scrolling, exploring, and connecting! 🌐 #SocialMediaRecap #StayConnected

Our Two Cents on Social Media Marketing 🧙♂️
Use high-resolution images and graphics. Avoid pixelated or stretched visuals, as they can diminish the overall quality of your content and don’t reflect well on your brand’s image.
Don't overcrowd your visuals. Allow for sufficient white space to create a clean and organized appearance. This makes it easier for your audience to focus on the key elements of your content.
Design templates for your posts to maintain a consistent style. This is especially useful for series of content, promotions, or recurring themes.
As usual, use Nuelink to keep your social media marketing plan running without investing much time and resources with its automation and scheduling features.
