Welcome back to the Nuesletter and the Nuelink Chronicles! This week, X, Twitter previously, celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Musk takeover. With half of its evaluation down the drain since then, I think it is safe to say that it wasn’t a smooth ride.
To get his money back, Musk is shaking things up with not one, but two new subscription tiers, a Premium+ tier for $16 a month and a Basic tier, at just $3 per month. So, get your wallets out once more to add to Musk’s pile of billions.
Speaking of the devil, Elon Musk is also making a change in the creator ad revenue share program. He's now excluding content that contributes to misinformation on the platform. This is one policy we can stand behind!
Meanwhile, over in the Instagram world, Adam Mosseri dropped some hints. A Threads API is in the pipeline, giving developers, yay us, the chance to create unique apps and experiences around Threads. Who’s ready for a new channel, folks?
Moving to Canada, Canadian businesses can now buy that coveted blue checkmark on Facebook and Instagram as Meta expands its Meta Verified for Business program. For “just” $36.99 CAD/month per page or account, brands can stand out in feeds like never before.
And last but not least, Facebook creators are getting some snazzy new tools, including a Reels A/B testing feature. It's meant to help them figure out what tickles their audience's fancy.
And finally, YouTube got their sights set on ad-blocker users worldwide. Warnings about breaking their terms of service are popping up, and in some cases, users are blocked from watching more videos until they disable ad-blockers. So, either purchase a YouTube Premium subscription or embrace the ads.
And that's a wrap for this week's social media scoop! Stay tuned for more news, updates, and endless new subscriptions from the ever-evolving world of social media. 😄📱
