Twitter is testing three levels of Premium subscriptions
A weekly newsletter about all things social media by Nuelink
Welcome, social media enthusiasts, to another whirlwind week in the ever-evolving landscape of tweets, posts, and livestreams. Grab your virtual front-row seat, and let's dive into this week's Social Media Unleashed! 🚀
Our favorite platforms are at it again, with X (formerly Twitter) spearheading the charge into an "everything app" era under Elon Musk's visionary gaze. X is shaking things up with its premium subscription service. Elon Musk is introducing three tiers—Basic, Standard, and Plus. The catch? The pricing varies based on how many ads users are willing to endure.
Elon's vision doesn't stop there. Paris Hilton is hosting a livestream shopping event on X, promising users a unique experience of watching, chatting, and shopping simultaneously. The details are still a mystery.
Speaking of expanding content offerings, X is dipping its toes into game streaming. Elon's empire now lets you broadcast your gaming prowess directly within the app. It seems X wants to be the ultimate destination, covering everything from tweets to livestreams to your epic gaming moments. And, let’s not talk about all of the drama with links on the app.
Meanwhile, over at TikTok, whispers abound about an ad-free subscription tier for $4.99. TikTok lovers might soon escape the clutches of ads, but it's still in testing mode, with no guarantee of a global launch.
Meta, not one to be left behind, is using publicly available posts on Facebook and Instagram for training its new AI assistants. But they want more. Meta is courting high-profile creators to join Threads, its latest venture, hoping to boost engagement. And to make ad creation a breeze, Meta's generative AI elements are expanding, offering text variations, background generation, and image expansion tools.
YouTube is lowering the bar for its Partner Program. Now, creators with 500 subscribers can cash in on their content. And for those Shorts enthusiasts, YouTube is rolling out generative AI features.
Where Musk's X is becoming a jack-of-all-trades and can X truly be the "everything app"? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for the next episode of the Nuelink Chronicles!
