X is now charging new users for the app!
A weekly newsletter about all things social media by Nuelink
Welcome back to the Nuesletter and the Nuelink Chronicles! It's been quite a week of changes and features, and we will tell you all about them.
Let’s start with the most shocking news of the week. X has decided to experiment with charging a $1 per year fee for “new unverified” users. Newbies can post, like, repost, and do all the social media jazz for a buck a year. Free users, on the other hand, get a read-only pass.
Meanwhile, TikTok is having a growth spurt. With significant increases in web traffic, it's giving other social networks a run for their money. Monthly active users on X are doing a disappearing act, while Facebook and Instagram are doing a little victory dance.
Meta is not one to be left behind. They've opened the Sharing to Reels widget to all developers. It's a move to compete with TikTok's Direct Post feature. You see, everyone's trying to be the next big thing in the short-form video world.
The Threads team at Meta is also cooking up something exciting. They want to bring encryption and self-destructing messages to Threads. Plus, they're planning to integrate messaging tools from Messenger, Instagram Direct, and WhatsApp.
Instagram has also been hard at work to promote Threads. Now you can tag Instagram users who don't have a Threads account yet. So, when they do sign up, you'll be the first to follow.
Meta has also decided to throw a bit of a surprise on Facebook. They're showing posts from Threads on the blue app.
YouTube, in the meantime, is gearing up with some exciting features. They're cooking up things like improved video quality, better recommendations, and enhanced playback controls. For creators, it means more tools and resources to manage their channels, connect with their audience, and make those YouTube dollars.
So, that's the week in social media, folks! It seems like the platforms are putting on their best costumes to keep us entertained. Stay tuned for more tech tales and social media adventures! 📱🌐

Our Two Cents on Social Media Marketing 🧙♂️
The opening seconds of your video should make an immediate impact. Use an attention-grabbing visual, an intriguing question, or a compelling statement to pique the viewer's interest.
Ensure that your video is optimized for mobile viewing. Many users access social media on their smartphones, so your video should be easy to watch on small screens.
Incorporate captions or subtitles, especially on platforms where videos autoplay without sound. This makes your content accessible and engages viewers who are watching without sound.
As usual, use Nuelink to keep your social media marketing plan running without investing much time and resources with its automation and scheduling features.
