X’s New DM Encryption & TikTok Ban Delay…
A weekly newsletter about all things social media by Nuelink
Welcome back to the Nuesletter! Here’s your weekly social media roundup:
🔐 X Expands End-to-End Encryption: X is rolling out expanded end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for direct messages, aiming to boost user privacy. But there’s a catch, it's only available for one-on-one chats, and both users need to be verified or subscribed to X Premium. No encryption for media or group messages, and key metadata like timestamps are still exposed. Privacy advocates say the feature doesn’t quite meet industry standards.
💬 Bluesky Adds Features for Former X Users: Bluesky is stepping up its game with new features to lure former X users. The latest update includes chat reactions in direct messages and a revamped “Explore” page, bringing trends, suggested accounts, and Starter Packs to the forefront.
📊 Instagram Tests Monthly Recap for Creators: Instagram is testing a new monthly recap feature, offering creators an easy way to track their content performance. The recap includes views, top-performing posts, and personalized insights, delivered in a Story-style format to make optimizing your strategy easier.
🔒 Instagram Quietly Tests Locked Reels: Want to create exclusive content? Instagram might have a new feature for you. Locked Reels would require viewers to unlock content with a code and hint, increasing engagement and giving creators a fun way to connect with their top fans.
⏳ Trump Extends TikTok Deal Deadline: President Trump has granted a 75-day extension to finalize the U.S. ban on TikTok, originally set for January 2025. The delay gives companies like Oracle and Amazon more time to negotiate TikTok’s U.S. divestiture, amid ongoing national security concerns and new tariffs between the U.S. and China.
🛑 YouTube Backs the “No Fakes Act”: YouTube is supporting the bipartisan “No Fakes Act,” aiming to tackle AI-generated content like deepfakes. The bill gives individuals the power to request the removal of fake digital replicas, with platforms acting quickly to remove harmful content.

Our Two Cents on Social Media Marketing 🧙♂️
Instead of chasing viral trends, focus on content that solves a real problem or answers a common question. Posts like checklists, how-to guides, and step-by-step tutorials are more likely to be saved and revisited.
The first line of your caption or the first slide of your carousel should clearly promise a benefit. People save content they know they’ll learn from or use later.
The more digestible your content, the more likely it is to be saved. Use numbered tips, short paragraphs, or slide-by-slide breakdowns to make your content skimmable and valuable.
As usual, use Nuelink to keep your social media marketing plan running without investing much time and resources with its automation and scheduling features.
